Apartment hunting

My lease for my apartment is up next month, and I am planning on moving into a new apartment. The apartment I currently live in is pretty small, and I did not think I would mind it that much when I first moved in, but that changed after awhile. The kitchen consists of a small counter and a sink, and is too small for me to cook in so I eat out almost every meal. The bathroom is kind of small and tend to bump into the sink or shower every once in awhile. I thought a smaller apartment would be easy to clean, but it isn't.

I have spent a few mornings before work this last week looking at apartments for rent here in Dalian. I have narrowed my choices down to two places. One is in an apartment building called Manhattan in the middle of downtown. The other is in an apartment complex called Yipin Xinghai and is located near Xinghai Square. Both are in highrise buildings, have real kitchens with ovens and stove-tops, and both have bigger bathrooms. The one downtown is a little smaller and a few years older than the one near Xinghai Square, and is a little more expensive. The one near Xinghai Square seems roomier and sunnier, but is not conviently located near much. I am leaning towards the one downtown right now, but will take my time and think about it.

I saw this sign for a realtor, and I had to wonder if they knew what house it was they had on their advertisement...

  • Maybe they (the realtors) are impressing the notion that they think Bush is for sale to the highest bidder. Guess they don't know he is already bought and paid for. See:Halliburton and Cheveron's payroll.

  • That has to be the stupidest and most uninformed comment I have ever seen. I am truely amazed that anyone could not only be so ignorant, but would post their ignorance online for the world to see. I guess that is why they posted it as anonymous.

  • Sorry....Condeleeza Rice is bought and paid for by Chevron (see her nice little boat) and Cheney is Halliburton. My mistake with George. Being bought and paid for would imply that there is something there to buy.

  • Steve, I hope you don't delete these comments. It really shows the true spiteful nature of liberals and how out of touch they are with reality.

  • I have no plans to delete these comments. It's a great example to everyone out there of what the left is really like... mean and ignorant.

  • Definition of spiteful: "showing malicious ill will and a desire to hurt".

    Defintion of truthful:"a true statement".

It is true that Cheveron named a ship after Conde. It is true that Cheney has direct ties with Hallibuton. Hence, my statements are not spiteful, and only pointing out reality. This truly shows how "Out of Touch" the conservatives are. Cindy look at the disparity between the middle class that has grown since Bush and his boys took over. I am not whining about the Rich vs Poor. I am talking about the back bone of American society that is slowly disappearing. Plus the job market has diminshed to such a state that some people have to now work outside of the US in order to get a job. You tell me who is myopic

  • Having a ship named after you does not mean your on someone's payroll. Vice President Cheney no longer works for, or owns any stock in, Halliburton so he has no direct ties to them. I don't know where the statement that the American middle-class is disappearing came from? It's not in any economic information I have seen. The labour department reports the job market is really good (as is pointed out here... http://www.tcsdaily.com/article.aspx?id=120905E). Of all of the Americans I have met working here in China I have not met one who is here because they could not get a job in the US. So far, no true statements. Reality: most people come to this blog to read about my adventures in China, and not a bunch of Bush bashing lies, so I have to wonder why you are here. The definition of spiteful you provided seems to fit.

  • Hi Steve,
Hopefully this isn't too long of a time since the original posting, but my wife and I are currently contemplating a move to Dalian, and I was kind of curious as to different rent prices. We're both pretty tall (I'm 6'4 and my wife is 6'), so we of course want a place with a bit more room.
Finding decent info about apartment prices in Dalian is a bit difficult to say the least. Is there any info you can provide?
    Thanks in advance, Steve.

  • The prices vary a lot depending on location, size, and if it is furnished or not. You can find small unfurnished places for as low as 1000rmb or less per month, and you can find large furnished 1 bedrooms for as much as 5000rmb. I have a furnished 2 bedroom in a nice area that costs me 4000rmb.
