Thanksgiving Dinner

Last Thursday was Thanksgiving and this year I went to the Sheraton Lido Hotel in Chengdu for Thanksgiving dinner. The American Chamber of Commerce got us a special price on the dinner, which included a Thanksgiving buffet and two glasses of wine.

For dinner I ate a salad with caesar salad dressing, turkey with mushroom gravy and cranberries, ham, oysters, Malaysian fried chicken, some spicy beef dish, potatoes, pumpkin, fried rice, some mushrooms, and finished it off with some dan dan mian (noodles). Part of the buffet was a noodle bar, and I couldn't resist having the noodles but it filled me up so much that I passed on dessert.

There were about two dozen of us at the dinner. About a third of the people were foreigners and the rest were Chinese. Most of the Chinese there had lived in the USA before, and I think they missed eating Thanksgiving dinner since returning to China. It was a nice evening with great food and enjoyable company.

  • Hello!

Yes it pretty sad when you already spent a Thanksgiving or Christmas and then you are far from the US.

It's good to celebrate this to spend and remember good times.

    Cheers!
